himself amidst a group of walkers

which was to scavenge supplies
from the city for the group.

At the start of the viral outbreak,
Carl left for Atlanta with his mother Lori
and Shane while Rick was in a coma.
They found shelter at a nearby camp
next to the city with a few survivors.
